Re: Canon M6, M50,Sony?

I really enjoy using my M6ii and I use it a lot, but it is a bit of a niche camera for me. When I travel extensively I usually take my m43 kit because it's less bulky. The m43 system as you probably know is very versatile and the availability of relatively light weight sharp lenses covers much more ground than the EOS-M system. However, if I'm not traveling, I find I take the M6ii and a few lenses, and I'm in good shape. I also take a lot of sports pictures many of which are indoor low light, so I need a FF for that. Otherwise the M6ii seems to be getting the most carry time. I really enjoy using it.

Prior to my Canon journey, I used the Sony system. While I was fairly happy with my A7iii, I did not like the A6500 and the A6600. I was glad to get rid of them. I generally found the ergonomics and menu set up in the Sony world frustrating particularly with the A6500/6600. I also did not like Sony's colors. Overall, Canon's system is better suited to my needs.

I've read that the new A7iv has much improved colors, an updated menu system, a touch screen, and improved tracking. These are important updates in my opinion. If Sony released a "real" APS-C camera to replace the A6600, I would reevaluate the Sony system. I do miss the huge variety of lenses made for the Sony E-mount. Canon is somewhat disappointing in that regard.

No camera system is perfect but if you spend time thinking a good bit about your use cases and priorities you'll end up with a system that fulfills those requirements as much as possible and you'll be happy. Good luck!
