I have no quibbles with the G5X II as a camera. My only gripe is it's not a larger format, but then again that'd make it much larger. Really the G5X II in my book is the unofficial G1X III successor. Trouble is, it's not (no weather sealing, not APS-C, no burst tracking outside of a single point).

What I find lacking of the G5X II isn't the camera, it's the fact that the G5X II is the unofficial Canon flagship point and shoot. I'm sorta wanting like a prim and proper G1X Mark IV, which I sincerely doubt we'll ever see so G5X II it is. The image quality of 1" as a whole, is being encroached upon by smartphones lately. Thom Hogan said this some years ago and I have to agree with him on this point despite our brand differences (he's Nikon-centric). This is where going to a larger format ala APS-C comes in, but chances of seeing anything new, APS-C or not, any new point and shoot from anyone, are slim to none.
