She took a few aurora borealis photos with her 7D2. Any thoughts/pointers/tips to share?

. , My better half went for hunting the aurora borealis y'day, and came up with these 2 photos attached with this post.

Since you lot have a lot of experiences with this, we're wondering if you have any thoughts/pointers/tips on what she can do to further improve the quality of her aurora borealis shots? That'd be much appreciated, since she really wants to learn even more!

She used Sigma 10-20mm F/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for these shots.

Unfortunately, we don't have the budget to go for a lens such as Sigma 14mm F/1.8, but we're currently wondering if we should go for the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 for her 7d mark ii... any thoughts about that?

She also owns the nifty-fifty, but she cannot get good enough shots with that, despite trying a couple of times.

She is also using a good enough tripod (K&F) for her photography tasks.
