Greetings,

My gear was stolen so am in the process of replacing it. I had been shooting M4/3. But, am thinking about A Canon M6 I or ii. Is the ii that much better than the i? And would either of these be a good option for a hobbiest? I normally shoot regular camera club activities and street photography. I had considered the M50,but thought that the M6 was a better shooting experience? I had also considered A6xxx series. Any thoughts?

Thanks, lepewhi

Personally I would go RF or FE or, if you want a crop system, E.

RF-s has potentially new bodies, but the glass is lacking, and new RF-s glass coming might be something quite hypothetical and the same might be even true for the bodies.

M has the glass, but no future bodies. RF has no third party lens options, so plan for the Canon tax for you future lenses. All in all I think the FE mount is the way to go. A7C?

Sony FE is a solid choice. A7C is overall pretty compelling, but what is it with Sony and their unwillingness to get controls/handling nailed? Would it kill them to put a front dial on their cameras?

Agreed, it's a shame.

And that EVF... Tiny. I shot on a GX85 for 3 years and wouldn't want to go back to an EVF that's so small.

Well, it depends. Lot's of M6(mkII) shooters don't care about a viewfinder anyway, and if that's the case here the A7C is a viable option.  The price of the body is steep, but the glass is affordable.

If I were starting out from scratch in the OP's position, I'd personally exclude Canon and Nikon APS-C.

Agree.

Both have consistently failed to be serious about expanding their APS-C lens lines for years. The R7 seems overall extremely promising but the ergonomic choices... ugh! That rear dial around the joystick! Why?!

And the RF-s lens line up is extremely limited, and the RF lens line up is 95% poor value for money.  The equivalent apertures of affordable RF primes are so so, affordable zooms will come with diffraction, especially on a 32Mp crop sensor.

Sony APS-C? Good value, good lenses, great autofocus, but the ergonomics/shooting experience again simply leaves too much to be desired for me personally to consider them.

Yeah, ergonomics are very poor.

So I'd most likely go Fuji or m43. Perhaps a like-new/excellent used condition G9, X-S10 (shame the VF isn't better), or X-H1. YMMV.

45 is more than enough, but 500.000 isn't
