I'll preface my question by saying that availability and pricing of tripods and gimbals in Oz is challenging.
Forget RRS and It's just not readily available.
Gitzo, Induro are horrendously expensive, as is Wimberley.
So my choices are down to:
- Leofoto PG-1 Gimbal and 100 mm plate
- Benro GH2C Gimbal and 100mm plate
I've settled on a Leofoto LM-364CL Tripod.
For use with the Z9 + FTZ II +/- TC1.4III and 400 f2.8 FL.
Thoughts?
Tripod heads and tripods are items that strongly follow the rule of "Buy cheap, buy twice". I'm not formula with Leofoto yet Benro and I've seen very mixed reviews for there gimbles. Some complain of operation that is not smooth. This will be harmful to your image quality when you pan. Look at recent reviews carefully.
If Jobo Design products (manufactured in Canada) are available to you I highly recommend the Jobu Design BWG-J3K 3/8-Inch Black Cardan Tripod Head.
It is very well made and I've had mine for over 10 years and it still works great. I lost a screw about a year ago and was able to order from them.
