X-T1 for safari?

Hi all.
In a nutshell, I am going to South Africa, a couple of days of which will be on a safari. African safari as I understand it is a lot of more stationary animals etc. I currently only own a Leica M which is completely unsuitable for any kind of wildlife photography.

I was thinking of getting a second hand XT1 and renting the 100-400/70-300 to take with me, as I don’t envisage doing any wildlife photography in the future.
Has anyone used this setup on safari/for wildlife photography and can give me an evaluation?
Thanks!
