Great price!

I really like mine.

I love my Rf 100-400/1.4X TC too. (These are SOOC JPEGs).

I love my RF 100-400/1.4X TC extender combo along with the RF-S 18-150 and the R7as light weight the pair makes for a great carry system when outdoor shooting. With these two lenses I also may carry the small/compact/light weight RF 35f1.8 for lower light. The RF 100-400 is fast focus when there is good lighting. This kit lens is surprisingly good IQ for this use. The R7 is easy to switch back and forth between stills and very good down-sampled 4K video.

I have the RF24-240 and RF 100-500 with the R5 but it adds over a pound and a bulk/bigger sling bag. It is excellent IQ and better at low light indoors or near sundown but the reduced reach, extra weight and bulk is not worth it for me on longer carries.

I payed $599 and no sales tax for my RF 100-400 using Payboo at B&H. I live in a 9% sales tax state. Your $499 sounds like a sweet deal for a very nice lens. I have been waiting the the RF-S 12-20mm to show up for a greater FOV wide angle.
