So a f/1.8 on a 1" sensor would still gather more light than a f/3.5 on an APS-C?

You (and Bob) consistently in this forum make statements about equivalence and noise as a function of sensor size which are objectively wrong. I can’t think of anything which is less helpful to a beginner than being misled in that way. Furthermore, you don’t seem to understand or acknowledge that while a super zoom with a 1” or 1/2.3” sensor might suit some, even many people, it won’t suit them all. And when someone asks a specific question about noise equivalence between sensor sizes as they have in this thread it would be good if you refrained from objectively false statements.

So, you are saying then, that my claim that if the same scene is photographed at f/1.8 with a 1" sensor camera at f/1.8 and an APS-C camera at f/3.5, both using the same exposure time and "appropriate" ISO setting (so that the photos have the same lightness), that the APS-C photo won't be a tad more noisy with a tad more DOF than the 1" photo?

If so, can you give examples showing this assertion to be in error?  'Cause I can give examples that support it.
