Here's an example of using very high ISO for birds in flight with the OM-1.

The common ringed plover can fly really fast and make sharp "swallow" like turns. On this particular day the light was still quite dull in the morning so the high ISO was really necessary.

Of course this is a crop and is processed with DxO PL5 and nik tools.

For extreme conditions I think it's acceptable, specially if what you are photographing won't happen very often.
