I owned the 60/2.4 before the 50/2 was released. But after I dropped the 60/2.4, I decided to replace it for several reasons.

First, I find there to be a notable difference in field of view between the 50mm and 60mm lenses. Some folks may not find it significant enough to have both, but I do.

Second, the 1:2 magnification ratio of the 60mm makes it invaluable as a macro lens. People grouse about it not being a true macro (1:1 or greater), but I don’t need that much magnification. And the other Fuji macro — the 80mm — is terribly large and expensive.

Third, I find it’s bokeh more appealing than the 50mm, though the bokeh of the 50 is not bad. I find that the 60mm produces a creamier bokeh.

I like both the 50/2 and the 60/2.4. The 50 has much faster autofocus, and I tend to prefer it for fast-paced street photography or when I need weather-resistance.

I could certainly do without one of them, especially if I had the 90mm/2, which has been back-ordered for months.

'At our best and most fortunate we make pictures because of what stands in front of the camera, to honor what is greater and more interesting than we are. We never accomplish this perfectly, though in return we are given something perfect -- a sense of inclusion. Our subject thus redefines us, and is part of the biography by which we want to be known.' --Robert Adams, Why People Photograph
