You are clearly not familiar with relaxation videos and nature videos posted on YouTube which garner up to tens of millions of views. And regarding the 3dio binaural mics - there is a much more expensive version with even more sensitive mics from the same company (same look, but black).

I'm not here to argue. I've done a ton of research and am not coming into the binaural world blind. I have 40 years of recording experience. I record in 5.1 surround and more recently record and mix for Dolby Atmos. There are many classes of binaural recording systems, but the Roland earbuds, at that price point, come with well known and published compromises. If anyone is willing to accept that, and it suits their needs, more power to them. I don't do action videos so I'm not interested in something that is readily portable.

You do you. I'll do me. No response required.

A response is required. My posts, unlike yours, are not about me. They are about videography and sound.

You have resorted to what we always see when one's arguments are shown to be  misplaced and indefensible - invoke credentials and also justify quality by popularity.

I know there is a big audience for soporific soundscape video. If I ever have trouble getting to sleep I know exactly what to watch. And, sorry, videos that have multiple takes or camera movements are not "action" videos.  They are the norm. If you work in film, none of the films you work on have one take with a stationary camera. and none use the binaural set-ups you are touting.

There is an even bigger audience for porn, btw.

It is obvious you are threatened by the fact that people can record very good binaural stereo at low cost, making you repeat over and over again (sometimes falsely) the limitations of the set-up, and proposing absurd solutions, some of which do not sound very good based on our own ears, with better headphones than you use.

The reason why your posts stand out, and why I am bothering to reply to them, is that normally people do not criticize equipment used by posters by gratuitously pointing out theoretical limitations and then proposing they use instead much more expensive, cumbersome and obviously impractical equipment. It is not helpful or useful.

What is evident is you do not know very much about video. The lowest form of video is placing a camera in one position and pushing the record button for a 15-minute take. This is a video forum; and people are eager to step up the audio component of video, which is important. Too bad you have not been very helpful for that. And it is amusing that you use the word "blind" in your post.
