I can't offer anything scientific, but my subjective experience is that there are indeed some slight differences between some SOOC jpeg film sims produced by my former X-H1 and my current X-T3, and especially X-S10 (even though the X-T3 and X-S10 are the same gen). My guess is that the difference is more likely to be seen in real-world shooting and all the variables that go along with that. I sold my X-H1, and then after a stint with Panasonic S5 came back to Fuji with the X-T3 and X-S10, so I couldn't do any head-to-head comparisons with my X-H1 at the same scene with the same lighting etc. I should state too that the vast majority of my photography is naturally lit landscapes.

To my eye, with the cameras I've had and have, the X-Trans III colours are more pleasing than X-Trans IV. I rarely use Velvia but it looks almost unusable on the X-S10, whereas on the X-H1 I did like it in some circumstances. Same with Classic Chrome and Provia. These are all at default values in-camera. I also had a favourite film sim recipe on my X-H1 I called "Warm Chrome", but I am really struggling to replicate it on my X-T3, and haven't even tried on the X-S10. So I think there's something to the difference claims that perhaps are not easily measured with controls
