Re: EF, a past master or a passed master ?

Hi, the EF range is being sunsetted by Canon. I guess they don't want to keep two lens mounts running for R&D & production.

There are still third party manufacturers (Samyang, Tokina, etc.) who are still manufacturing great EF mount lenses. The EF mount is also still going strong in the cinema sector, although some RF camera mounts are creeping in.

I myself use an EOS R and a Blackmagic 6K Pro for filming, which has an EF mount. For this reason, I am still using EF lenses I can swap between the two systems. I also use a 0.71X adapter for the EOSR to bring the crop down for shooting in 4K, which doesn't work with RF lenses.   4K on the EOSR otherwise has a massive crop with RF lenses.

The R5C might have made me change my mind, if it wasn't for its very high price point.
