I can only pray Sigma will give us the 18-50 F2.8, distortion and all. We can fix that in post.
I know, but M is a consumerish system, you can't simply sell a lens with that amount of distortion without in camera correction for such a basic system. M isn't about M6II + 32mm f/1.4 only, it's also about M200 + 15-45mm.
Presumably, canon could release a new lens for EF-M and the camera would 'listen' to info from the lens about distortion correction. Why couldn't the camera 'listen' to a Sigma lens?
It would be the first Sigma lens getting in camera distortion correction on a Canon camera ever.
Or has Canon told all the M cameras to put their fingers in their ears unless it's a Canon lens?
Something like this, yes.
I don't know how the technicals work with this stuff. I do know SONY cameras correct the Sigma distortion.
In my opinion it's better to use your R + 24-105mm f/4.0 L.
Another option - if you want to leave the R at home - is a slow M zoom for walk around stuff and the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 for when you need a lot of light or shallow DOF. In a way that's better than a compromised f/2.8 zoom never being truly compact and never being truly bright.
Well, it's a lot brighter than my EF-M 18-55, and at 290g, a lot more acceptable than the 18-35 at 800g + EF-EF-M adaptor. The 24-105 F4 L has FF image circle, IS, and is only 700g!
So I'm back to lugging the R and 24-105 around for casual photography. Dammit!
Maybe I'll just carry the M6 with 22mm F2 attached, and my TT Artisan 35mm F1.4 in another pocket.

45 is more than enough, but 500.000 isn't
