Glass/Plastic lenses; which is it?
1

I feel like the assumption is that most lenses are made of glass. But I noticed that there’s no distinction on Fuji’s site. I think that Tamron has a 4:1 long zoom coming out that has a specified ‘hybrid aspherical element’ which I’ve learned is a glass/plastic assembly (if it has the word ‘hybrid’).

Does anyone actually know these manufacturers are grinding actual glass or if it’s polished plastic? At the end of the day, as long as the sharpness and contrast and color are there, it doesn’t really matter.

But has anyone actually asked?
