+1 vote for 3x3 Zone AF & XF 23/2 (samples included)

Though I own X-E3 & X-T20 (they are technically identical but ergonomically different), whn I use any for shooting in rapidly changing environment, i too find that

  • zone AF 3x3 is the fastest way to obtain focus,
  • single point AF isn't practical and is perceptibly slower (this made me wonder does single point AF at all utilize PDAF capabilities of the camera, or not? and I have never found any clear answer),
  • XF 23/2 with 3x3 zone AF allows to avoid "smartphone-style" shooting with the lens stopped to f/8 or even more; the sweet spot is between f/2.8 and f/4.5, up to f/56.

Here are a few links to sample shots of rapidly changing scenes:

Some architecture with XF 23/2: 01, 02, 03

Posed (non-street) photo

and one more posed photo.

All were taken with XF 23/2 and 3x3 zone AF.
