If you can afford and can find one I would recommend going with the RF.

I sold my EF 600/4 IS II in the spring when I found the RF and the two TC's in stock at Canons online store. The EF worked fine with adapter but I took advantage of the market conditions to get a good price for my EF and two TC's and I knew I would never buy or use an EF body again.

The adapters work fine as long as you have them. I almost forgot to put them in my bag when I went on a trip in February so that's why I started looking into the RF just to eliminate one thing that I could forget or that could break.

very interesting i do that with my Lee GND filters, i always forget to take them with me.

i plan to get a R7 real soon. that will be a good introduction to R cameras for me - besides, i like aps-c format so this way i'll have a aps-c and a R camera in the same time. also, since R7 will be the only R camera i'll get, therefore, i'll get a EF-RF ring and just leave it on the camera for good. i have absolutely no intention of getting RF lenses because i have a very superb EF lenses. that should last me for the rest of my natural life. i have 4 real nice FF dslrs to go with with my lenses. so, i have kept my situation very simple
