Adapted Sigma lenses, yay or nay?

The S line lenses are obviously great but they are limiting in the amount of light they gather as well. One of the big draws for the Sony system and the L-mount is the fact that you can get Sigma lenses. Now for Nikon you can get Sigma HSM lenses, they are rather large (doesn't bother me) but are very competitively priced on the secondairy market.

I am interested in possibly getting a 35 1.4, a 85 1.4 or perhaps the 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses.

Can people share their experiences with adapted Sigma lenses? Are they just as sharp as on DSLR? Do they focus ok?

Thanks in advance!
