Revisiting the 24-50mm f4-6.3 kit lens
6

I had kind of dismissed this lens--my preference for primes and the fact that it was a kit lens prejudiced my view of it, and my first uses of it were in lower light (where it does not shine). But today I threw it on for an outdoor beer tasting to give it another shot and I have to say that I misjudged it. I would still stick with a faster prime for lower light situations, but I was pretty happy with this lens today. I'm probably not going to plunk down the cash for any of the faster or higher end zooms any time soon, and I will definitely put this one on the camera more when I am shooting outdoors or in decent light.

Enough background blur to separate out the foreground, and the focus on the glasses was crisp

Not a fantastic photo, but much sharper and clearer all around than I was expecting from this lens
