AF-C makes the only sense in M mode with Nikon's bracketing functionality.

By definition of AF-S single shot Manual mode, Nikon's design is not competitive with other cam manufacturers.  As I stated in another response, other manufacturers have bracketing designs that, even if not more intuitive, at least make logical sense.

Requiring a reset of bracketing shots back to "0" for something you may use only occasionally, and then having to set up a second access option in an I or Q menu, or a Fn button, is at best less than desirable UI design.

Perhaps this is also why some of us, lacking intimate knowledge, don't think in terms of looking for answers that sort of defy logic.  We simply expect logical controls, rather than de-selection style resets.
