Olympus OM-D metering

The E-M5 Mark III user manual says:

Spot metering: meters a small area (about 2% of the frame) with the camera pointed at the object you wish to meter. Exposure will be adjusted according to the brightness at the metered point.

What I don't understand is: where is the spot area located in the frame?

  1. In the center?
  2. Or is the center just the default, and the default setting can be overridden?

I believe #2 is correct, because the manual also says:

The spot metering position can be set at the selected AF target. [Spot Metering] (P. 170)

Could you please confirm?

Is there an easy tutorial about metering modes, and using Auto Exposure Lock (AEL), Auto Focus Lock (AFL, how do I use AFL, what's the purpose?), spot metering position, etc. ?

Thanks!
