Thanks for the feedback BlueRay2. I was wondering if the out-of-focus areas were due to my handshake (even with the image stabilisation) or if it was due to the lens (which by all accounts isn't a "real" macro lens, but I have no standard to judge against). I'll try adjusting brightness as well. Thanks again!
Not sure that's hand shake at those shutter speeds. Could be just very thin dof at macro distances.
Yeah, I was wondering. I've taken quite a few macro pics, and it seems that there is a very small DOF in macro mode (I use the automatic Macro mode on the R7). That would make sense, given that it isn't considered a "real" macro lens (which would surely cost much more). It seems to me that focus bracketing might be a way out of that dilemma, but with very small moving subjects that could prove difficult.
