That's a great budget mic, but in this scenario a shotgun mic with a long interference tube will do a better job rejecting off-axis sound waves.

Sean is correct that a parabolic mic is the best for picking up far away sounds, and sounds at the rear of the mic won't be nearly as noticeable as they are with a shotgun mic, but I postulate that the dish will get too contaminated with off-axis sound waves to work in this scenario, not to mention the cumbersome operation.
