Re: Extend USB Using WiFi?

B&H has a Web page with a description of such a device: a "Gefen Wireless USB 2.0 Extender." Unfortunately, that one has two problems. It only supports low data rates ("up to 54 Mbps"), and it's no longer available.

If you had a WiFi network within your house, with Ethernet LAN ports in both rooms, you might be able to plug Ethernet-based USB extender devices into that WiFi network. Because you don't know how Ethernet-based USB extenders package data, you'd want to make sure that the WiFi network bridged all traffic, rather than routing it, or bridging only packets with TCP/IP payloads.
