question about RF-S lenses

Hey everyone,

OK, first off: I'm a photographer resuscitating his photography knowledge with an EOS R7 (which is an APS-C crop sensor).  So while I consider myself around intermediate photography knowledge, I'm a bit fuzzy on the technical details (as you'll see).

I have a question about using RF-S lenses (which, as far as I know, are designed specifically for EOS R crop sensors) on a crop-sensor EOS R camera (in my case, the EOS R7).

On a recent video article I recently saw someone say that the RF-S 18-45mm actually works out to be 29-72mm.  Colour me confused, because I thought that this lens, as it was specifically designed for crop sensors, would deliver an actual 18-45mm range on crop-sensor R cameras like the R7.

Can someone clarify this issue for me?  Thanks in advance!
