In my opinion, get the M50 mark ii. It has an upgraded eyeAF that is definitely better than the m62. Also the focus is just way more reliable. It's a really good small body to use and you get a flip out screen and evf. And it's cheaper.

I've been thinking about getting the M50II in stead of my M6II, but there's no minimum shutter speed, and less dynamic range. Less Megapixels isn't a huge problem for me, but less dynamic range is a downside.

You will not see a difference in dynamic range between these two cameras. Trust me I'm the ultimate pixel keeper that cares about the best image quality I can squeeze out of these sensors. There's no difference.

I agree with this, as a user of both (and now the M200 whose images are very similar to the m50ii). You won't see a difference in dynamic range in most shooting, as the difference is very small (around 1/2 EV).

Where the sensor difference shows up for me is that the M6ii has about 2/3 EV better high-ISO low light performance. Using DxO Photolab 5, I can get relatively clean images from the M6ii up to about ISO 10,000, and the images look like M50ii images around ISO 6400.

Also of course the extra M6ii pixels are great for more cropping, and especially useful for more latitude in perspective correction with wide angle lenses.

Over the last few weeks I've been taking the M50 for a spin for some landscape stuff. The files are pretty good. You know what files are better? The original M. I'm holding on to that one because the colors are just so much better. Unfortunately with the m62, you're not going to see a lot more detail either.

I'm just giving you raw information from what I've experienced in the last 2 years. I've been actively trying to replace the original m (that's how I got the m50, but then the m62 dropped in price) but it's been a headache mixed with lower image quality than expected and auto focus issues. I still wouldn't quite recommend using a M50 to shoot portraits, because the files have a kind of crunchy look to them... it is a fairly noisy sensor compared to the m62.

If you haven't tried DxO PL5, I recommend it --- using that software crunchiness and noise isn't an issue, results especially with Deep prime are lovely and silky smooth, and sharp.

Regardless of which one you get, test it tested and tested to make sure it's working properly. I hope you don't have to go through what I went through.

Agree with this as well... I have bought 1 refurb M6ii and two refurb m200 bodies direct from Canon. The M6ii failed after a week with a defective battery door switch, Canon replaced it with a perfect refurb at no cost to me (and I got an extra battery and charger out of it, so not complaining!). Both refurb M200s were just like new and are going strong 6 months later.

I have also had zero issues with an Open Box M6ii from Best Buy Black Friday 2020. Both my M6ii's still work perfectly. No internal battery issues, both focus like a champ for the gen Digix processor, and I also have never seen this so-called shutter shock at slow mechanical shutter speeds with the kits zooms people write about. They struggle with BIF shooting at 375mm f8 with about a 50% keeper rate on tracking focus mode, but that is par for this camera model I think.

However all three 15-45mm kits lenses that came with those bodies were 'below average' and had noticeable decentering. One was so bad I sent it back to Canon under refurb warranty and finally got my first 'good' copy of that lens. the other two mediocre copies were sold on fleabay.

if you do buy refurb, Canon stands behind them and will replace them quickly at no cost to you.  if you don't mind playing your odds you can sometimes save money with refurbs.

Cheers and happy shooting.
