But that’s a trade off, because some cameras produce shutter shock if you don’t.

Shutter shock tends to impact longer lenses more than wider lenses because the the same motion coming from the vibration is a larger ratio of the total frame because of magnification. There is documentation of test of a M11 ( 60 MP ) and the conclusion was for lenses 50 mm or wider, shutter shock was not an issue. It became visible with a 90 mm.

I suspect that with normal and wide lenses, that would hold for most cameras. I normally use my 35 on my Pro3. Sometimes I use a 27 or 23. I’ve not noticed any issues with shutter shake.
For most of what I do, actually the electronic shutter would suffice. I’ve always viewed EFC as an band aid rather than a solution which comes with its own set of warts. Since I’m now mostly using my D2M with a leaf shutter, I’m not going to lose any sleep over shutter shock. And of course, the X100 series has no shutter shock issue.

Truman I've been waiting for a over 50mm M11 shutter shock test from a source I could have confidence in. Would you please find that link for me, thanks.

Doug

Doug,

I've got to run out and pick up my car that is in for repairs as it has been eating batteries lately. I'll later today and see if I can find it again.

Thanks, good luck on the repair bill.
