Thanks a ton.
I have not opened the B&H box yet.
It is very interesting what your saying that everything is a portrait, I can just pose the bottle like its a human.. lol…
Yep. It's bold. It's adventurous. Light it as such.
I have grids on all softboxes. Although if the subject is wearing eye glasses I must take those grids off, otherwise I will see the grids reflected in the eye glasses no matter if I’m using a polarizing ring or not.
Back when I did portraits on a regular basis, I kept a dozen reasonably fashionable pairs of glasses on hand, with their lenses removed. I also learned how to quickly remove the lenses from a client’s frames, if they really wanted to use their own.
Not just for reflections, but for caustics, and because if there's astigmatism correction in someone's prescription their normal lenses will distort the shape of their eyes. Oh, and some plain old +2 reading glasses make eyes slightly larger and more attractive, without looking outrageous.
I was wondering why I look so damn good with my readers on
So how in incognito wouldn’t those grids reflect on a bottle?
Well, although you're treating it like a portrait, remember that it doesn’t have a nose or eye sockets, so you can come in with a shallower angle with the light, which can eliminate reflections.
I also often light things with 18-inch soft boxes (or an 18-inch mask on 24-inch boxes) because I have 18-inch polarizers. If you polarize the lights, and counter polarize your lens, you can eliminate a ton of reflection.
I watched the YouTube video someone linked above. He’s using 4 lights. And 3 softboxes with a PL filter and a remote shutter.
Sounds about right.
I have a good stand with a level, the remote shutter. 3 Godox AD300 pro’s. 4 softboxes the one in Amazon link, I have, I’m not really using it since I now have the 60” and 44” for mains and a 12” wide x 5 feet side kicker
I'd recommend smaller boxes and maybe two more lights.
I gauss I have to figure out how to build a table that could be disassembled.
Have a look at the one I linked.
And a budget how much it will drag me in to get it right.
I’m just wondering about the B&H box. If you look online you’ll see customer submitted photos which doesn’t look that bad. Maybe its just not for a bottle

The term "mirrorless" is totally obsolete. It's time we call out EVIL for what it is. (Or, if you can't handle "Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens" then Frenchify it and call it "LIVE" for "Lens Interchangeable, Viewfinder Electronic" or "Viseur électronique").
