Stopped-Down Metering on the M50 Mark II?

Does anyone know if there is a means to set the M50 Mark II to use stopped-down metering?

I’m trying to use an old mechanical Nikon lens with an F-to-EF lens adapter with an AF confirm chip and the Canon EF adapter. The purpose of the chip is not to actually confirm focus — I know that won’t work — but to allow me to record the focal length and the selected aperture in EXIF data. The basic idea is that if I select f/4 on the lens aperture wheel, then in M or Av mode I select f/4 on the camera and that aperture will apear in the EXIF data.

However, this messes up metering, because body expects to meter EF lenses with the aperture wide open and then stops down to the selected aperture just before the exposure. That’s exactly what a Canon DSLR does.

The metering could be fixed if there was an option in the menus to select stopped-down metering. However, I can’t find it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Regards,

Alan

P.S. Yes, I know I can meter with the lens wide open, select AE lock, stop down the lens myself, and expose. However, I don’t think that’s very practical. Also, DOF preview is independent of metering, so it doesn’t solve this problem.
