Just a couple of basic VND comparison / tests......using both a K&F nd2-32, and an Urth nd2-32 {both are from their premium range / but both are well-priced filters for my meagre budget}
These tests are probably of limited use for anyone except me, but possibly handy to go into the archives anyway.
As my use for these are mainly with two specific ff telephotos, and using an m43 sensor....vignetting is not an issue for my purposes....but i was hesitant regarding sharpness, before testing {thankfully both filters appear not to significantly reduce sharpness...if at all}.
Both filters do give a slight/warm tint though, when compared to the bare lenses. Easily corrected in post, but so far i haven't felt the need to tweak in post...for outdoor Nature video.
The K&F vnd has a 67mm rear thread, and a 72mm front thread, which works well with my 72mm thread Nikkor ED 300mm f4.5 ais, via a step-up ring....allowing me to use the lenses built-in hood.
The Urth vnd has a 95mm thread on both the front and back of the filter, and therefore i can use my existing 95mm add-on hood, with my Nikkor 50-300mm f4.5 ed ais.
I have mainly used my Nikkor 50-300mm zoom with my Fotodiox Cine ND NF-M43 adapter, but recently discovered that i could not focus to infinity with this combo when using the wider end of this zoom lens {due to this rear filter being placed within the optical train}....although never an issue at the long end of this specific zoom. Therefore, my Cine ND will live its life entirely on my 400mm prime lens.
Anyway, here are my couple of tests:
I have removed the tint from the filtered examples...in this example.
I have removed the tint from these filtered examples too.
I have left the tint in the left example of this Urth filter, which is similar to that on the K&F
Overall, i am pleased with both filters for my needs, and see little difference between them. Therefore, money well spent...due to the added versatility they offer me.
cheers.
