How do you set the focus area for whole frame when using face tracking mode? Isn’t that the non-optional default?

AF menu 5, first setting.

If it is set to AUTO - then when starting AF the camera finds the object in the whole frame. In case of planes it works perfectly and allows me to have object in focus in any area of the frame.

If it is set to any of other 2 options - there is an initial AF point (region) in which the camera will try to find an object. This setting works with trains I'm photographing - I simply catch the engine into the area and then AF tracks it across whole frame.

Br, Pawel.

Yes I have it on Auto as well. When in Face/Eye the white pre-fopcus square starts to look for and eye as soon as the camera wakes up. Same works the way you describe. Works well as you describe. I haven't use Initial AF since the R. I use the pre-focus technique if U nee that. My BFF are set to Zone and Single point AF to hone in on a subject. Sure nice to have all of these programming options to match your style.

Example of that transition

I had on vehicles but left it on Face/Eye. The model planes had pilots but they were too small. Thought I'd try.
