I just got a used G5x and was surprised at what can only be called severe vignetting when shooting at 8.8mm. Yes, it goes away in jpeg. Is this normal behavior of the G5X?

Shot at 8.8mm in raw and converted to jpeg.

In addition to Mark9473 comments yes, "IF" the being bing used to open/ process the RAW does not have the "lens profiles" for the camera.

Per your image's EXIF you used CyberLink PhotoDirector 12 (Windows); I'm not familiar with this app.

Check out the CyberLink PhotoDirector 12 (Windows) Help/ Support on using with RAW images, and if it has the lens profiles for the G5X.

BTW nothing new.

For example RAW+JPG images from Imaging Resource SX50 HS review (HERE),

Imaging Resource Sample+RAW image:

JPG: Typical image if exposure not adjusted to prevent highlights being overexposed/ blown. With JPG PP one can recover some of the darker shadow areas, but the "overexposed" highlights limited to capabilities of the photo editing app-RAW will recover a greater range.

Uncorrected RAW image saved as JPG. Note vignetting at corners.

RAW PP w/ DxO PhotoLab 4 Elite Suite. Also note the PP RAW image has a wider FOV than the OOC JPG image.

FOV JPG/ RAW comparison: LEFT - JPG — • — RIGHT - PP RAW (see red markings)
