28mm at the widest and not bothered about the zoom distance.

Must have variable screen!

Thats it really and it appears the options stopped at the G12!

The G1x fits the bill but doesn't offer much over the G12 performance wise.

The G9x II would have been perfect with a variable screen!

Did anyone ever find their perfect Powershot?

I have a G5x mkI.

I can use C mode and save 28mm as the starting focal length. Anytime the camera turns on or switches into C mode, it will automatically zoom to that setting.

I use said camera at work to document outdoors, on the ocean, around the classrooms, machine shops, social events. I think to that task, it would be near perfect if the shot to shot RAW was speedier. Also, if it had weather resistance. Mkii looks like it solved the speed but changed into a very different form.

I don't know if there is going to be the perfect powershot for me. I really liked the compact size of the S90 when it came out. I was still pretty DSLR centric at the time so it was never more than a backup. I found a G9x mkII for cheap last year but it was slower than the G5x and pretty slippery. I ended up just using my cell phone. I think as larger sensors become more mainstream on cellphones, and, if more phones have better , camera like interface like half press shutter buttons then I'm not going to use a compact.
