I’m still beating myself up for stupidly thinking that Nikon would plug this gap by now. I honestly would have gone for another system if I had known. So I may be forced to get this, but is focus going to be either quick or reliable at F6.3?

It will work fine at f6.3 - many other slower lenses work fine also - no f8 limit of DSLRs. Check out Dustin Abbott's review re AF on a similar RX version.

If you want the best 70-300 just get the af-p fx version - and an FTZ - it has fast steppers and is a brilliant lens.

Thanks for the article advice and lens suggestion. I will definitely check both out.
