I have been locked in analysis paralysis for a couple of weeks looking at different small cam options. When I saw this deal, I knew I had to jump on it and I did.
Apparently the prices they posted were some type of error and they cancelled the entire order. Back to square one!
Sorry to hear that but it's not all that surprising.
Reading back through the thread, the early part discussed the ergonomics of the M100/M200 quite a bit.
I find that with the M200 holding and gripping the camera is no problem at all. I find this surprising as it doesn't have a front grip to speak of. The texture of the body and the top, plus the part sticking out the back is enough to have a secure hold on it, even with the EF-S 55-250 IS STM and a 1.5x teleconverter.
I don't use the M200 controls much as I use the back screen most of the time. However my BIG main complaint is that the info button and the menu button are placed differently than they are on the M6 mark ii!! On the M200 the menu button is to the upper left of the control rocker, but on the m6ii it is on the lower right. On the M6ii the Info button is on the upper left, but on the m200 it is the 'down' rocker button. As I use both cameras a lot this is really a pain!!! Otherwise the cameras' size and handling is quite similar and they don't feel much different to me, using them side by side.
They left 'off' the button to the lower right of the m200's rocker control, which is why they moved all the buttons around. They did this so your palm would not hit that button while holding the camera for normal use.
The original M6 has that problem ---- when I owned that camera I was constantly hitting the lower right button with my right palm holding the camera. They solved this design flaw on the M6 mark ii by widening the body a little and placing the entire control set slightly to the left so your palm wouldn't hit it.
The touchscreens and menu system of the m200 and M6ii are very similar, almost indistinguishable. And Kudos to Canon for putting the customizable menus on the M200 --- I have made 3 custom menus for both the M6ii and M200 and they are almost exactly the same. Very rarely do I go into the normal menus, but when I do, things are easy to find on both and in similar if not identical places.
Thanks for your thoughts Larry.
I probably would be an eos-m100 owner by now if it weren't for the lack of a viewfinder. It would (will) be fine for a secondary camera, but that's not what I need.
