Dolomedes tenebrosus. Made with Canon R7, EF100mm 2.8 macro, Godox Speedlight and DIY diffuser made with flexible cutting board. She was pretty restless so image was shot at either 200 or 400 iso to cut back on recycle time. This is at 1:1 and made from approx 10 inages to get front of pedipalps to behind eyes in focus. Handheld and lean into subject to get stack. Very difficult and there was def issues with the stack. I processed to the point of saying, "meh, good enough". I could have prob gotten away with half the shots for what I wanted but always learnin'
Always open to CC
excellent lighting and love the natural look. These guys can either get skittish and run off or almost be in a trance and stay still for what seems like hours. I got my only shots of one back in 2020....did mine at 6x though so quite a different look.
Wonderful job!
Thanks! Isnt that your photo of same species I just saw in FB though? That silly photo in the group of a waterdrop refracting a flower on a jumpers head is showing up everywhere so I clicked into group and saw you have one in there.
I took these a few years ago and both of these spiders were suuuuper chill. Just would sit whever I wanted and stay still as stone once settled. This recent one though -- she wasnt having it. I went to a persons basement because she was freaking out and about to kill a bunch of "huge" spiders. I talked her into letting me just remove them...after some photos of course
I hate that picture they posted with the water droplet on the spider head.
yeah, I have been posting there as it's a growing group, but wow the spam is insane - I get 5 spam comments asking me to contact Dr. Schmeezy or whoever who heals relationships or can cast out demons. It's quite ridiculous.
But I digress...
that is an exceptional shot of that fishing spider with the darker view. Very nice!
Yeah, I posted this one earlier in that group...

Here is another shot I did of it, but this time with a 5x objective on a rail. 180mm tube lens with reversed raynox 150 as the lens. I think the objective was a Nikon but I don't remember. Regardless it was mind-blowing to me that it stood still for the needed shots. bad thing is after I lost it in my office and never saw it again.
