Rentals are expensive. The outcome of a rental could be

A. I don't like the lens, money wasted
B. I love the lens, should have bought it, money wasted

I have a different approach to rentals. I have learned hard and expensive that one thing are internet reviews and the other thing is own hands-on experience. Rental for one day is just a very small fraction of the lens cost. You can take it a s price for learning, service, real experience. Probably you spend much more on totally unnecessary things each month than is the price for lens rental.

I did rent RF 85/2 and Sigma 85/1.4 as a part of my decision process for fast short telephoto. I am glad I did it since it brought some new inputs to me I did not realize before and helped to steer me towards the final decision to my current 105/1.4. And I already totally forgot the price I paid for rental.
