Not sure what the license vs. subscription is but I switched to subscription after a long time. Been using Capture since about v6 and switched over entirely around v20. My subscription for 2022 is $155 with some discount code I found on web.
While I might not use every tool they introduce I am glad to support C1 because the color rendition(and other tools) is simply incredible with Sony A1 and other cameras.
I used Lightroom from around v2-6 and was never happy with LR rendition of Nikon files especially with skin tones. It was definitely a step up from bibble though so it served its purpose.
