How much cropping is feasible is the best reason I have seen for high MP FF camera bodies. Recently I saw an example of a studio portrait taken by a pro that looked more like a rank XMas department store photo in that it was mostly torso and the face was no where near the isolated point of interest it should have been. Then I realized the camera, on tripod, with AF and eye detect, was at a distance that allowed the subject to move rather freely within that frame while the photographer could fire remotely, with silent shutter I suspect, 200-300-400 shots as expressions changed and lighting angles subtlety changed. There was sufficient resolution to crop 75% or more away to get a exceptionally tight head shot with great detail despite the initial photo looking like an expanse of carpet with a cat in the corner.
