Honeybee Fatally Trapped in Spider Web
2

I shoot bees on Salvia in our garden very often. A bit of motion about six inches below the outer leaves flashed in my peripheral vision. I searched for a hole in the layer of outer leaves and found this fatal struggle.

The Honeybee was desperately trying to escape the strands of web. Periodically the spider would dart in and make contact, then out. Perhaps it was injecting some venom, because the bee stopped moving after several minutes.

I felt sympathy for her. She and her sisters pose for my camera very often.

She died with her tongue out. Like a Crab Spider kill I posted last year.

Best regards,

Alan
