If that company released a line of more grip-shaped products for common camera models, I think they would have a real winner there.

Not so sure it would be a winner. Even if that charger could be shaped into a sort of grip like form it still would not be the same as an actual battery grip. The real thing also comes with buttons so you can release the shutter etc. if you aren’t getting the full functionality why not just carry extra batteries or, if you are just YouTubing from home, just plug the camera into a wall socket? Canon does have an AC adapter kit.

I'd rather go without the grip if there's no vertical shutter release, as I think it would actually be more difficult to try and release the shutter holding the camera vertically with such a grip attached.
