Close-up Filter Question

Hello

Bought a negative scanner - sooooooo bad. Wont go into the terrible image quality.

So, I built my own light box.

I have to use my compact camera to get in close to the negatives via its macro option. The results have been very good, and superior compared to the negative scanner.

I would have liked to use my Nikon DSLR, but the kit lens (70mm zoom) just cant get in close enough to fill the frame like the compact can.

Will using a +1 or +2 etc close up filter allow me to get in very close to the negative with the Nikon? Obviously I want the image crisp without any fall away distortion boka.

Your advices appreciated.

Thanks in advance
