I think I understand this, but what is the difference between putting a Sony in APS-C mode or just using the FF mode and cropping in post? I get that metering is going to be more accurate, as it is measuring what you are planning to keep, but are there any other advantages?

Thanks in advance.

I shoot the whole frame and crop in post because I rarely crop the exact APS-C frame from the full frame - I often go a bit to one side, or a bit up or down. I won’t count on my ability to point the camera in exactly the perfect direction

I believe the result is the same as cropping, except that you can’t choose to crop off to one side
