May i please ask for you views on the combination of Sony A7iV with Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 Di III VXD lens.

My daughter competes at amature level show jumping in both indoor and outdoor arena's in the UK, different lighting. i need a good camera lens combination to use in burst mode to capture in focus photographs mainly when the horse is jumping, My daughter face is visible but she wears a riding hat.

My current camera, Canon 70D with 18-200mm lens is simply too inconsistent on focus., and quite frankly ready for the bin.

i was thinking of the new Canon R7 but when you add the price of an appropriate RF lens i think the Sony Tamron is a better option.

i would really welcome your views. Thank You.

18-200's can be pretty awful lenses.

Try a Canon EF 70-200 F4L USM before giving up on the 70D.

I have a friend who still uses a 60D and gets good pictures with it--mainly with a 70-200 F4L. I am not sure which version he has.

I bought and sold the 70-180 VXD. It didn't have enough reach for me. I just recently bought a used Sony FE 70-200 F4 G OSS to replace my Canon EF 70-200 F4L USM. More often I use a Tamron 70-300 RXD.
