Suburban photography sans people. A challenging subject?
1

I live in a regional “city” of around 15,000 people, many of whom are temporary workers and their families. We have a CBD with a few shops, a medical precinct, and lots of suburbia. There’s also semi rural properties close by, mainly with cattle.

I would like to concentrate for a while on suburban/semi rural photography that does not contain people (mainly because I’m shy). I’ve seen some examples of suburban photography, not many, although the examples I have seen are really good. It seems it’s quite a challenging subject because it’s so ordinary. But that’s also its strength.

Does anyone here take this sort of photo, and do you have any tips? I would be out trying right now, but it’s about to rain and my Olympus EM10 is not weather sealed! So thought I’d prepare whilst it rains.
