Love it ...when I first saw this I thought of 'people'...distant people.... walking or whatever. Yes Like Peter said, perhaps a bit more sky than needed but at the same time, play with it and see if a lack of sky brings upon a lack of 'impact' within the total photo.... but well done, jim
What grabbed me when I saw this shot was the line of trees on the top of the ridge. The first shot I took, the foreground was in the shadows. It was okay but nothing special. Then as a hole opens in the clouds of a building storm and a spotlight was shown on the foreground and patches of blue sky the scene became much more interesting. I saw the building storm being a major part of the scene as a storm was churning its way into existence. The foreground was the least interest part of the image - with the exception where it was being spotlighted.
I put the top of the ridge on the bottom 1/3 line and the right above of the cloud opening on the top 1/3 line. I didn't actually do that intentionally but went back and checked and that is where they fell. Maybe a different aspect ratio would have worked better.
