The small size and weight of the GR, as well as its one-handed, viewfinderless nature make it a pretty unstable platform. The IBIS helps a lot, compared to the earlier models, as does the modern sensor. The GR I was pretty much useless once the light faded. But it's a weak IBIS, not comparable to e.g. modern MFT.

I find that holding technique can make a huge difference. Hold it with two hands, close to the body, preferably braced against something, and the GR is actually a fantastic little shooter at night. With proper technique, I've shot half-second exposures easily.

But then two-handing the GR is not the most comfortable thing in the world, and kind of goes against its nature. If that's your regular use case, a bigger camera is simply better suited.
