Progress with the R10 + 100-400 + 1.4x
7

I am making progress with my new combo!  I went out again last night, and it was near perfect conditions, sunny through sunset.  It certainly made a difference with this slow lens.  I shot in Av and kept my minimum shutter speed at 1/500, but moved my maximum ISO down to 1600.  Still, I had some shots that couldn't make exposure, I'm guessing, with those parameters.  My question is, would I better off taking off all parameters (minimum ss and max ISO), shooting in manual, still starting the shutter speed at 1/500 because of the lens focal length, f/11 for the teleconverter, and play with the ISO?  Let me know what you think.  Your input has been helpful.
