I've owned three different versions of the X100.  I now have a GRIII.  If either one was going to be my only camera, it'd 100% be the X100.  But it's not my only camera.

Up to a few months ago, I used a Nikon Z.  Now I have a GSX.  And the GRIII.

Normally, the GRIII stays in the car.  Three instances when I'll use the GRIIII:

1. I have a telephoto on the GSX and don't want to switch lenses.  I'll bring the GRIII as my wide angle camera.

2. I'm shooting somewhere that I want to be as discreet as possible.

3. I'm out with a civilian (aka non photographer) and don't want to force my photo tendencies on them.

I think either camera can handle number 1 equally as well.  Number 2 and 3 are better served with the GRIII.  While the X100 is small, it can't fit in a lot of jacket pockets let alone pants pockets.  And by using the LCD with one handed operation, it's just as fast as a phone.  With a lot better results.
