What are some of this too many drawbacks?

namely:

- DoF too shallow

- natural bokeh still not really an option in typical portrait scenarios -> fake bokeh still needed

- in most others shallow dof is more a drawback than benefit.

- no aperture to control DoF (yes i know it exists in some phones, not in Xiaomi 12s uafaik)

Is DoF really a problem for such still quite small sensors (1/1.5 - 1″)? I don't see any problems with depth of field on pictures posted on this forum taken on Xiaomi 10 ultra, 11 ultra or 12s ultra or s22 ultra. Maybe it would be more evident in group of people kind of photos. The only case when I saw uninteded shallow DoF problems was Pixel 6 pictures.

On the other hand I wonder whether in good lightning conditions there is any advantage in terms of picture quality for sensors above standard for compact camera 1/2.3 size? In other words are there any benefits to the bigger sensor when there is enough light? Maybe less noise in darker areas, in shadows
